US singer D4vd identified as a target in a Los Angeles grand jury investigation into the death of a 14-year-old girl

US singer David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd, has been identified as a target of a grand jury investigation in Los Angeles relating to the death of a 14-year-old girl, according to newly unsealed court filings.

The documents state that the teenager’s remains were discovered in September inside a vehicle belonging to the artist.

Prosecutors have identified D4vd as a potential subject of proceedings involving one count of murder, though no indictment has been issued and no formal charge has been announced. Grand jury proceedings remain ongoing.

Under United States law, designation as a target of a grand jury investigation indicates that prosecutors believe substantial evidence links an individual to a crime.

It does not constitute a criminal charge.

The filings became public after members of the singer’s family were summoned by a California court to testify before the grand jury.

D4vd’s father, Dawud Burke, challenged the summons in a Texas court.

In doing so, Dawud Burke included excerpts from California case materials that had not previously been disclosed, prompting the unsealing of additional details.

D4vd has not publicly commented on the latest developments.

Representatives for the singer previously stated that he was cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities.

The investigation marks a serious development for the 20-year-old performer, whose career has risen rapidly in recent years.

Legal analysts note that the grand jury process can take months to conclude and may or may not result in formal charges.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.
