Sowore slams Tinubu insecurity criticism, calling the president clueless over rising insecurity and failed security promises in Nigeria

In a strongly worded public statement issued by Omoyele Sowore, the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria was accused of failing to address worsening insecurity across the country, with the activist branding the administration “lazy and clueless”.

The insecurity criticism came amid renewed public concern following deadly attacks in Plateau State and rising abductions in Oyo State, which have intensified scrutiny of the federal government’s security strategy.

Sowore argued that President Tinubu had failed to deliver on earlier promises, including the deployment of 5,000 artificial intelligence enabled surveillance cameras intended to strengthen national security monitoring.

He also referenced the announcement of 1,000 forest guards following school kidnappings in Oyo State, stating that insecurity has persisted despite these measures.

In his remarks, Sowore described the government’s response as ineffective, insisting that Nigeria’s security challenges continue to worsen under the current administration.

He also linked the issue to broader governance concerns, saying citizens are facing deepening hardship and rising inequality.

Tinubu insecurity criticism also extended to economic conditions, as the AAC candidate declared support for Nigerian workers demanding a living wage of ₦500,000 monthly.

He argued that current salary levels are insufficient for decent living conditions amid inflation and economic pressure.

Sowore maintained that national progress requires stronger leadership and greater public consciousness, urging Nigerians to reject poverty, exploitation, and inequality as normal conditions.

He added that civic awareness and accountability are essential for meaningful change in governance.

The statement has further fuelled political debate, adding to ongoing tensions between opposition figures and the federal government over security performance and economic management.
