The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the development on Wednesday through its Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, who revealed that both victims were rescued unharmed after detectives acted on credible intelligence.
According to Wakil, the incident began on 25 October 2025, when 32-year-old Stanley Abuchi of Wuntin Dada, Bauchi, reported an attempted kidnapping at his residence.
Unable to find him, the suspects abducted his girlfriend, Joy Stanley, aged 23, and his friend, Adam Bala, 24.
Responding immediately, detectives from the ‘B’ Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, intercepted the culprits in a red Mercedes-Benz along Gidan Mai Jos Road. One of the suspects, identified as 32-year-old Abubakar Musa from Jos, was arrested during the operation.
Police investigations uncovered that the gang had demanded a ransom of ₦400,000 and also stolen items valued at ₦60,000, including personal belongings.
Further efforts led to the arrest of another suspect, 31-year-old Dahiru Umar of Yandoya, Jos, on 27 October. Officers also recovered a handcuff considered vital to the case.
SP Wakil added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend three other suspects, identified as Ibrahim Hassan (a.k.a. B13), Pigo, and one Musa, whose surname remains unknown. The police vowed to pursue all leads to ensure the entire network is dismantled.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for in-depth investigation and prosecution.
