‘Brutal!’ Prominent University student stabbed to death

The incessant rate of insecurity across the whole country has left several families bereaved of their family members either due to Kidnapping, assault, rape cases and many more social vices increase level to its worst yet in the history of the country.

Such would be the fate of a 100-level student of the Department of Geology, University of Jos, Jeremiah Dalong, who was stabbed to death on his way to school a few hours after the curfew in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State on Thursday.

Mr Dalong had taken a tricycle from the permanent site to the university’s main campus. He was allegedly stabbed by the tricycle driver near Yankari Filling Station, just a few meters from the university’s main gate. According to witnesses, the event occurred about 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Danladi Adankala, head of the university’s Students Union Government (SUG), confirmed.

“The student took a tricycle from the university’s permanent location to the main campus, and suddenly on the road, he was dragged out and stabbed to death,” he added. Mr. Adankala requested the federal government to construct a perimeter fence around the school as well as more dormitories.“This will help significantly reduce the number of students who live off-campus,” he continued.

Following the death of 27 Muslim travelers on Rukuba Road on Saturday morning, the institution halted semester exams. The state administration placed a curfew on Jos North LGA in response to the deaths.
