‘Buhari in Imo’ Owerri residents comply with sit-at-home IPOB’s order as Nigerian president visits

Before the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Imo, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, protested against the planned visit as residents were seen on Wednesday making preparations.

Residents of Onitsha and Nnewi in Anambra State were seen trooping into markets to buy their necessary consumables and essential commodities.

The IPOB’s sit-at-home order being the mechanism fashioned by the group to protest against the coming of the President into the state, considered not only questionable if obeyed but a note that the Imo State government has no hold over its indegenes.

With the anticipated visit of the president and the people’s resolve to remain in their houses, Imo has gone quickly to become the most monitored state as to where the outcome of the visit and as well as the compliance to the sit-at-home order by IPOB to the citizens would pan out.

With curious look out for the possibility that the motorcade of the president on arrival at the state might drive through empty streets.

However, President Muhammadu Buhari as arrived at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri, Imo State, clothed in the Isi Agu Igbo native attire, he was welcomed by some of the elders in the state.

The fear IPOB imposed would not leave many with the intention to disobey the order for the ‘clown show visit’ as quoted by residents.

On his arrival the President was received by officials as heavy security swarmed around the nations number one citizen.

According to the state governor, Hope Uzodinma, in preparation for Buhari’s visit, the visit was significant since the President was there to commission some projects as well as “address some political matters and some critical issues.”

The President commissioned four newly executed projects. The projects are Naze-Poly Nekede road, Balloon Technology Drainage Tunnel at Dock Tiger, Amakohia Egbeada bypass and the New Government House Executive Chambers.
