‘Heinous’ Church building collapses, traps members (Watch)

The building housing Salvation Ministry, Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State, has collapsed, trapping unspecified number of worshippers with over 10 deaths recorded.

According to report reaching Freelanews, the heinous incident occurred on Tuesday evening, trapping church members and children in the ruckus.

The collapsed building was being used for the first time in service when it collapsed around 5:55pm.

As of press time, emergency operations to rescue members trapped in the debris had begun.

Reports have it that that about eight persons have been rescued unhurt, while four persons have been rushed to the Asaba Specialist Hospital.

Secretary to the State Government, Chief Patrick Ukah; State Commissioner for Health; Dr. Ononye Mordi, and a team of Red Cross officers and fire fighters were on the ground on a rescue mission at the time of filing this report.

Worshipers, family members, and sympathizers were spotted crying as rescue attempts continued.
