The 28-year-old joins on a free transfer, with an option for the club to extend the deal by another year, reuniting with Brendan Rodgers, his former manager at Leicester City.
“Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho on a one-year deal, subject to international clearance, with the club having the option of a further year,” the club said in an official statement on Tuesday evening.
Iheanacho enjoyed his most prolific season under Rodgers at Leicester, netting 19 goals in all competitions during the 2020–21 campaign, including a crucial role in the club’s historic FA Cup victory.
His return to Rodgers’ fold is seen as a strategic move to strengthen Celtic’s attacking options, especially after recent criticism from fans over the lack of forward signings before the transfer deadline.

Iheanacho’s signing is expected to provide much-needed depth and experience to Celtic’s frontline, particularly as they prepare for domestic title defence and a European campaign.
At 28, he brings a blend of Premier League, La Liga, and international experience, having played over 200 matches for Leicester and most recently spending time on loan at Middlesbrough after a brief stint with Sevilla in Spain.
