‘Moved by a week’ Here’s why family postponed Baale Dapo Oshin’s burial (Poster)

The family of late Baale of Itomi Island (Tom Island) in Lagos, Chief Dapo Oluwaseun Oshin, has postponed the burial ceremony of the deceased by a week, Freelanews can authoritatively report.

Recall that Freelanews earlier reported that the rites were to start on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 and end on Friday of the same week.

However, the widow, Olori Ololade Oshin informed our correspondent that due to COVID-19 test result being awaited, the late Baale Oshin’s burial has to be postponed.

“Left to me, I would have loved that my husband be buried the same Saturday he died. But then, due to some other arrangements, we had to wait this long.

“It is unfortunate that his burial wouldn’t be possible again this week also. We had thought that the result of the COVID-19 test carried out on Saturday would be out on Monday, July 19, 2021 but we were told that it would not be ready until Friday, July 23. And without that result, the autopsy can’t be carried out.

“I want the death of my husband to be properly documented and not rushed or assumed. This is the main reason we just have to wait for all the reports to come in, which necessitated postponing the burial till next week,” the wife revealed.

According to new burial arrangement released, while the ceremony would commence on Thursday, July 29, 2021, with Service of Songs at DA, Block 1, Federal Bus Stop, Federal Housing Estate, Ipaja, Lagos at 3:00pm to 5:00pm in the afternoon, the late Baale Dapo Oshin would be committed to mother earth in the community he led as the traditional head on Friday, July 30, 2021. The programme would start 10:00am at Tom Island, Badore in Ajah.

“I wanted to remove the Artistes Night that was on the initial poster because I wished for a solemn ceremony to respect my husband,” Olori Oshin pointed out, “I’ve however reneged on that decision when the organisers promised that the event wouldn’t be abused.”

Due to this decision, the widow told our correspondent that Artistes’ Night would be holding on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at DA, Block 1, Federal Bus Stop, Federal Housing Estate, Ipaja, Lagos at 5:00pm.

May his soul rest in peace.
