Rite foods makes strong top 20 brands breakthrough

Rite Foods Limited, led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Seleem Adegunwa, has secured 17th position in the 2026 Top 50 Brands Nigeria Ranking, breaking into the country’s top 20 brands following the unveiling of the annual assessment at the Brand Nigeria Leadership Forum and Awards in Lagos on Friday, October 30, 2026.

The Nigerian-owned food and beverage manufacturer improved five places from its 22nd position in 2025, recording a brand strength score of 58.0 per cent, representing a five per cent year-on-year increase.

The achievement marks another significant step in the company’s growth, reflecting its expanding presence in Nigeria’s consumer market and its sustained efforts in product innovation, quality assurance and brand development.

Rite Foods’ progress has been consistent since its appearance on the ranking in 2021, when it occupied 50th position.

It moved to 44th in 2022, advanced to 30th in 2023, reached 27th in 2024 and climbed to 22nd in 2025 before securing its latest position.

The progression represents a 33-place improvement since 2021, including a 27-place climb between 2022 and 2026.

The company’s latest achievement also comes amid growing competition between indigenous businesses and multinational brands in Nigeria.

The 2026 ranking recorded 27 Nigerian-owned brands against 23 multinational companies, marking a shift from the equal representation of both groups in the previous edition.

Rite Foods also secured fourth position in the Brand Nigeria Mentality category, placing behind Dangote, MTN and OPay, according to the company’s announcement.

The broader ranking was unveiled at the Brand Nigeria Leadership Forum and Awards, where Dangote Industries retained its position as Nigeria’s most valuable brand for the ninth consecutive year, while MTN Nigeria emerged as the country’s most popular brand.

The assessment, conducted by TOP 50 BRANDS NIGERIA, draws on consumer perception and brand performance indicators through its proprietary Brand Strength Measurement (BSM) framework.

The methodology considers popularity, sentiment analysis, online engagement, trust, leadership, relevance and societal connection, offering an assessment of how brands are perceived by consumers.

Speaking on the significance of brand strength, Taiwo Oluboyede, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Evaluator of TOP 50 BRANDS NIGERIA, said: “You can buy visibility, but you must earn relevance. You can advertise your promise, but you must deliver it to earn trust.”

His observation highlights the growing importance of consumer confidence and consistent brand experiences in determining how businesses maintain their market positions.

For Rite Foods, the latest recognition reflects its expanding portfolio of products developed to serve different consumer preferences and consumption occasions.

The company’s offerings include Bigi Carbonated Soft Drinks, available in 13 variants, Fearless Energy Drink, Sosa Fruit Drink, Bigi Table Water, Rite Spicy and Bigi and Bigi Flex Sausage Rolls. Its portfolio also includes LIDA Malt Classic, a recently introduced malt beverage.

Through these brands, the company has continued to strengthen its presence across Nigeria’s food and beverage industry, competing in categories traditionally dominated by established local and international manufacturers.

The company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Seleem Adegunwa, attributed the ranking improvement to its commitment to quality, technological advancement and the development of products capable of competing favourably in international markets.

He also acknowledged the contributions of employees, consumers and business partners, describing their continued support as an important part of the company’s progress.

Adegunwa reaffirmed that quality, innovation and community impact would remain central to the company’s long-term ambition of building a resilient and globally competitive Nigerian enterprise.

Beyond brand recognition, Rite Foods’ growth also draws attention to the contribution of indigenous manufacturing to Nigeria’s industrial development.

Local manufacturers continue to operate in a challenging business environment shaped by production costs, inflationary pressures, foreign exchange constraints, distribution expenses and changing consumer purchasing power.

Against this backdrop, investments in production facilities, technology, distribution networks and local expertise remain important to strengthening domestic manufacturing capacity and supporting the wider supply chain.

For businesses such as Rite Foods, these investments also create economic opportunities across employment, sourcing, distribution and retail, connecting manufacturers with a broad network of suppliers and market participants.

The company’s rise also reflects a wider shift in Nigeria’s business landscape, where homegrown brands are increasingly competing for consumer recognition alongside multinational corporations.

With its latest position in the national ranking, Rite Foods has strengthened its standing among Nigeria’s recognised consumer brands, while setting a higher benchmark for its continued growth in the competitive food and beverage market.
