Lagos ACME Road Closure

The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of ACME Road in Ikeja to all vehicular traffic on Saturday, May 10, 2025, to facilitate the All Progressives Congress (APC) Primaries

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Lagos State Government has issued a traffic advisory announcing the temporary closure of ACME Road in Ikeja to all vehicular traffic on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

This measure is to facilitate the smooth and orderly conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Primaries at the party’s State Secretariat located on the road.

The advisory, released via the state government’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, outlines that the traffic restriction is a crucial component of broader security and traffic management strategies implemented to ensure orderliness during the political event.

According to the government’s statement, access to ACME Road will be completely restricted from key entry points, including Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Lateef Jakande Road, and ACME Crescent.

Motorists are strongly advised to seek alternative routes and cooperate fully with traffic management personnel who will be strategically deployed to manage the situation.

The official statement read in part: “Ahead of the APC Primaries scheduled to hold at the APC State Secretariat at ACME Road, Ikeja on Saturday, 10th May, 2025, the Lagos State Government has issued a Traffic Advisory to aid free movement during the process.

Motorists will not be able to access ACME Road from Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande, and ACME Crescent ends. The entire stretch of ACME Road will be closed off to vehicular movement during the primaries.”

To minimize any inconvenience to commuters and other road users, the Lagos State Government has provided the following alternative routes to navigate the temporary closure of ACME Road during the APC Primaries:

“Motorists will not be able to access ACME Road from Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande, and ACME Crescent ends. The entire stretch of ACME Road will be closed off to vehicular movement during the primaries,” stated the Lagos State Government.

From Adeniyi Jones Avenue: Motorists are advised to take Aromire Street and continue their journey through Allen Junction.

From Allen Avenue: Utilize Aromire Street, then link up with Ladipo Oluwole Street, and proceed via Guinness to reach your intended destination.

From Akilo Road: Divert through Wemco Road and then continue either towards Lateef Jakande Road or head in the direction of Omole.

Commuters are strongly urged to plan their journeys well in advance and, if possible, avoid the ACME Road axis entirely on Saturday unless absolutely necessary.

These suggested diversions are intended to mitigate traffic congestion and ensure a smoother flow of traffic around the event venue.

Furthermore, officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be strategically positioned along the designated alternative routes to provide guidance to motorists and ensure overall safety throughout the duration of the road closure.

The Lagos State Government emphasized that these traffic management measures are an integral part of broader efforts to guarantee the orderly and peaceful conduct of the APC Primaries while simultaneously minimizing disruption to the daily activities of residents.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to comply with this advisory and to exercise patience as authorities work diligently to manage traffic effectively during this temporary road closure.
