Sports fans everywhere in the world were on Sunday morning, June 7, stunned when UFC star Conor McGregor took to his official social media page to announce his retirement from fighting.
The decision of the 31-year-old Irishman came as a surprise at a time when fans are expecting him to be preparing for his next duel after the lockdown.
Posting the picture of himself and his mother, Conor McGregor failed to explain the rationale that made him to retire from fighting this time around.
But his latest retirement won’t come as a major surprise for many fans and pundits as he had earlier announced his retirement three times in the last four years.
His decision this time around could be the final or probably Conor McGregor may come out again from retirement to continue fighting.
McGregor who is the only man to hold two belts at different weights at same time had looked set to fight UFC legend Anderson Silva in his next fight.
The 31-year-old was last seen in the octagon in January when he demolished Donald Cerrone in what remains as his best fight ever.
”Here is a picture of myself and my mother in Las Vegas post one of my World title wins. Pick the home of your dreams Mags I love you. Whatever you desire it’s yours Red heart,” Conor explained.
Even if Conor won’t return to fighting again, he has made lot of money from the game as he has earned more than $200m.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua joined the fight against brutality against the black race in his hometown in Watford.
The 30-year-old Briton who recently suffered a minor injury while on lockdown needed a pair of crutches to join the protest with the slogan ‘Black Lives Matter’.
This is as a result of the 46-year-old American George Floyd, who was murdered by a Minneapolis policeman late last month.
Death has seen protesters hit the streets in all 50 American states, with other countries showing solidarity by speaking up against the ill-treatment against the black people.
