2Face clarifies Plantashun Boiz split, confirming Faze was not involved in past disputes while reflecting on the band’s legacy

Nigerian music icon Innocent Ujah Idibia MON, professionally known as 2Face, has addressed lingering questions about the breakup of his former boy band, Plantashun Boiz, during a live performance at the Made in Benue Festival in Makurdi.

2Face, who formed Plantashun Boiz with Blackface and Faze in the early 2000s, clarified that bandmate Faze was not involved in the disputes that contributed to the group’s disbandment.

“You all know that Plantashun Boiz consisted of Blackface, 2Face, and Faze. But due to some unforeseen circumstances, Blackface is not with us right now. However, no matter the beef wey me and Blackface get, nothing concern Faze inside. So, Faze is right here with me and we will represent Plantashun Boiz,” he told fans.

The band achieved massive popularity in the early 2000s but eventually split as members pursued solo careers.

The separation was further complicated by public allegations from Blackface, who accused 2Face of song theft, creating tension between the two artists.

Despite past disagreements, 2Face’s remarks emphasised his commitment to honouring the legacy of Plantashun Boiz and maintaining a positive professional relationship with Faze.

The duo continues to engage fans with music that celebrates the group’s influential contributions to Nigerian pop culture.

2Face’s clarification appears to reassure fans that, while past disputes with Blackface remain unresolved, the collaboration with Faze preserves the spirit and memory of Plantashun Boiz for current and future audiences.
