Aare Ona Kakanfo’s visit to Olota of Otta highlights efforts to preserve Yoruba traditions and foster cultural unity

The courtesy visit preceded the annual OPC National Coordinating Council Meeting and spotlighted the unity and preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage.
During the visit, Aare Ona Kakanfo commended the Olota for his exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to advancing Yoruba culture.
He praised Kabiyesi’s initiatives, including the establishment of an e-library and plans to develop state-of-the-art museums, urging other traditional rulers to emulate such progressive efforts.
Welcoming Aare Ona Kakanfo, His Majesty was joined by prominent monarchs, including Oba Dr Abduwasiu Ogungbayi (Onitetiku of Owode Otta), Oba Adeniji Odutala (Ayetoro-Budo, Itele Otta), and Oba Akinyemi Isiyemi (Alatan Otta-Elect).
The Aare Ona Kakanfo shared insights into his dual role as the National Coordinator of OPC and his elevated position as the Aare Ona Kakanfo.
Despite the demands of both roles, he reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding Yoruba sovereignty and cultural identity.
In response, the Olota praised the Aare Ona Kakanfo for his steadfast patriotism and dedication to preserving Yoruba traditions.
Kabiyesi prayed for continued blessings from Eledumare for the Aare and his team, commending their efforts in advancing Yoruba heritage.
The visit served as a platform to reflect on the rich history of the Yoruba people and the importance of equipping future generations to uphold their cultural identity.
“Your dedication inspires us all. May the Yoruba culture continue to thrive under your leadership,” said His Majesty.
Following the visit, Iba Gani Adams presided over a confidential meeting of the OPC National Coordinating Council at Oba Isiyemi Hall, located within Olota’s Palace at Ipeti Royal Square, Otta.
The general session, held later in Sango Otta, further demonstrated the commitment to unity and progress in Yorubaland.
