The affected students, who are in 300 and 500 levels, face rustication periods ranging from two to four semesters.

The university management disclosed this in a news bulletin dated April 14, 2025, jointly signed by the Deputy Registrar (Senate), F. O. Omoigui, and the Principal Assistant Registrar (Information and Public Relations), Otunba Mike Ade Aladenika.

The bulletin stated that the penalties were approved following due consideration of reports submitted by the Mobile Disciplinary Committee (College of Medicine) regarding offenses committed by the students during the specified academic session.

The rustication affects students across several departments within the College of Medicine, including Hematology, Histopathology, Medical Microbiology, Medicine, Physiology, Chemical Pathology, Medicine and Surgery, and FMLS.

This is to inform you that the university management, after due consideration of the reports submitted by the Mobile Disciplinary Committee (College of Medicine), has approved the penalties recommended for the offenses committed by the following students during the 2022/2023 session,” stated the AAU management in its news bulletin.

Specifically, 21 students were rusticated for two semesters, while 13 students received four-semester rustications, effective from the 2022/2023 academic session. Among the 500-level students, 12 were rusticated for two semesters and eight for four semesters.

The university management also noted that six students were exonerated from the allegations, two were advised on their behavior, and one received a warning.

Among the 400-level students, four were rusticated for four semesters, six for two semesters, and two were exonerated. In the 300 level, three students were rusticated for two semesters, one for four semesters, and one was exonerated.

The offenses committed by the rusticated students included using unauthorized written materials during examinations, possessing university answer booklets with examination-related answers, and impersonating other students during examinations.

The student who received a warning was found with a mobile phone while leaving the examination hall to use the restroom.
