Abdulmumin Jibrin rejoins the APC after leaving the NNPP, declaring full support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid in Kano
Abdulmumin Jibrin, the lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

Jibrin made the announcement during a large political gathering in his hometown of Kofa, Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, on Sunday.
Sharing the news on his Facebook page on Monday, the former Director-General of the Tinubu Support Groups said his supporters had unanimously resolved to abandon the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
“In a show of solidarity, I was warmly received by thousands of my constituents in Kofa, Bebeji,” Jibrin wrote. “The gathering resolved to leave the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya, join the APC, and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.
Almost 2,000 scholars from my constituency also prayed for peace, development, and progress for our people and the nation.”
His return to the APC comes just two months after his expulsion from the NNPP over alleged anti-party activities and non-payment of dues — claims Jibrin described as “shocking and unjustified.” At the time, he maintained that he was denied fair hearing, saying he would not contest the party’s decision in court.
A former APC stalwart, Jibrin had defected to the NNPP in May 2022 amid internal party disagreements but later accused the NNPP leadership of neglecting its members. Despite his criticism, he expressed gratitude to the party for the support he enjoyed during his tenure and urged his followers to maintain peaceful relations with those remaining in the NNPP.

Political observers in Kano view Jibrin’s return as a significant boost for the APC in the state, as political alliances begin to realign ahead of the 2027 general elections. His re-entry is expected to strengthen Tinubu’s grassroots network in one of Nigeria’s most politically influential states.
