A 24-year-old man, Chidera Ugwu, has been arrested by the police in Kano for conducting an unsafe abortion, which led to the death of a 19 year old pregnant lady, Amina Bala.

A statement issued, Thursday, by the command’s spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, explained that the suspect, who resides at Lanbum Banki Tofa Local Government Area, was apprehended after administering drugs and injecting the pregnant lady, with the intent to cause miscarriage, which led to her death.

Kiyawa, a Superintendent of Police, explained that the ill- fated abortion came about after the deceased was impregnated by Ukasha Muhammed of Langel village in the same locality .

“The suspects (The quack and the man responsible for the pregnancy who conspired together to abort the pregnancy) were arrested and confessed to the crime.

“Investigations revealed that the said Chidera Ugwu has allegedly been administering fatal injections to pregnant women, leading to tragic consequences,” the statement read.

“The arrest of the quack doctor signifies a significant breakthrough in our ongoing efforts to safeguard the lives and well-being of all the residents in the state,” the statement.

In a separate incident, the police have arrested a notorious thug, Yusuf Haruna for the murder of renowned Islamic cleric, Sani Mohammed Shuaibu.

The suspect had on the 31st of December stabbed the 45 year old cleric with a sharp knife at his back while he was performing ablution for daring to warn him and his gang to desist from smoking Indian hemp around the Mosque premises.

According to the police, the victim was rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialists Hospital, Kano where he was confirmed dead by doctors.
