The announcement, contained in a letter dated 10 October 2024 and signed by the National Social Secretary of the University of Ilorin Alumni Association, Abdullateef Hussain, highlights Akosile’s significant contributions to both the media industry and the creative sector.

The award ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. at the University’s Multipurpose Hall.

The letter addressed to Akosile states, “The Alumni Award recognises distinguished alumni who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and service to their communities.”

It further commends him for his outstanding achievements and his commitment to the values upheld by the University of Ilorin.

Akosile’s extensive career in journalism, theatre, public relations, and entrepreneurship has spanned over two decades.

Since his appointment, he has played a crucial role in media and perception management for Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration, aligning with the government’s THEMES+ development agenda.

His responsibilities include the daily dissemination of information regarding the Governor’s activities and collaborating with various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to promote the overall initiatives of the Lagos State Government.

A graduate of the University of Ilorin, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performing Arts in 1996, Akosile has also obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Obafemi Awolowo University in 2010 and a Master of Arts in Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos in 2022.

His professional journey began at reputable media organisations, including Minaj Broadcasting International, Lagos Television, and Channels Television.

In 2009, he founded Bridgeworld Communications Company, a media production firm that he successfully managed for a decade before stepping into public service.

A lover of arts and culture, Akosile has collaborated with Stagecraft Films and Production Ltd to produce Ola Rotimi’s Kurunmi, staged twice in Lagos and attended by notable figures, including Governor Sanwo-Olu.

In addition to his impressive professional background, Akosile is an active member of several prestigious organisations, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria.
