FirstBank has announced Professor Kenneth Amaeshi as the first occupant of the FirstBank Samuel Asabia Professorial Chair of Business Ethics at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), according to a statement released on Monday.
About the Professorial Chair
The Chair, established in 1994 as part of the FirstBank Education Endowment programme, honours Samuel Asabia, the first indigenous Managing Director of FirstBank.
The initiative aims to fund and promote high-level research and learning projects across federal universities in Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The appointed professor is tasked with leading research initiatives, mentoring professionals, and promoting ethical leadership and responsible business practices.
Professor Amaeshi’s Background
Professor Amaeshi holds the Chair in Sustainable Finance and Governance at the European University Institute, Florence, and the Chair in Sustainable Business and Public Policy at the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
He is globally recognised for his work on responsible capitalism, governance, and Africapitalism, a philosophy that positions business as a driver of inclusive growth and shared prosperity.
