Anambra State releases full schedule for #OnwaDezemba 2025, featuring music, comedy, cultural festivals, children’s activities, and sports events across Awka, Ekwulobia, and Onitsha
The Anambra State Government, led by Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has unveiled the full lineup of activities for the #OnwaDezemba 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations, promising a festive season packed with entertainment, culture, and family-friendly fun.

According to State Information Commissioner, Law Mefor, the celebrations kick off on December 18 with the #OnwaDezemba City Block, a youth-focused event at Awka City Stadium, featuring music, performances, and fun-filled activities for Gen Z, starting at 6 p.m.
Other highlights include:
- December 20: #OnwaDezemba Christmas Carol/Cankata at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, 4 p.m.
- December 25: #OnwaDezemba Children’s Christmas Festival at Solution Fun City, 2 p.m.
- December 27–28: #OnwaDezemba Ịgba Mmanwụ Festival at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, and Ekwulobia Township Stadium, 2 p.m.
- December 29: #OnwaDezemba Novelty Match at Awka Township Stadium, 2 p.m., followed by Ịgba Mmanwụ Festival in Onitsha at Ezechima Primary School, 2 p.m.
- December 30: #OnwaDezemba Flavour Home Coming Concert, 5 p.m., at Solution Fun City, featuring the Anambra music superstar Flavour n’Abanịa.
The festivities continue into the new year with events promoting health, laughter, and culture:
- January 3: #OnwaDezemba Walk for Life, 7 a.m., Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, and #OnwaDezemba LOL (Laugh Out Loud) comedy show at Solution Fun City, 5 p.m.
- January 4: #OnwaDezemba All White Old School Night, 6 p.m., at Solution Fun City, celebrating old-school music with an all-white dress code.
Commissioner Mefor emphasised that #OnwaDezemba 2025 has been designed to highlight Anambra’s rich cultural heritage, entertainment, and festive spirit, encouraging all residents and visitors to take part in the celebrations.
