The APC dismisses Atiku Abubakar’s claims that the 2023 presidential election was “stolen” from him, calling his stance “comical.”
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims made by Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 presidential election, who alleged that he did not lose but was “cheated.”
Felix Morka, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, responded in a statement on Tuesday, labelling Abubakar’s stance as “comical” and criticising his repeated electoral grievances.

Abubakar, a former vice president, recently took to social media, claiming the election was unfairly taken from him.
In his rebuttal, Morka described Abubakar as “Africa’s most infamous presidential election loser,” remarking that he has repeatedly lost against every elected president since his tenure as vice president ended.
According to Morka, Abubakar’s losses span six electoral cycles in the past 17 years, reflecting what Morka characterised as a consistent lack of public trust and sportsmanship.
Morka underscored that Nigeria’s judiciary upheld Abubakar’s electoral losses, ensuring legal and constitutional finality to his repeated attempts.
“A clearly unabashed Abubakar continues to lay a bogus claim that he did not lose the 2023 presidential election. That is beyond comical,” Morka stated, adding that Abubakar’s recurring claims of election theft show a “disturbing political desperation.”
Pointing to Abubakar’s past role in PDP-led administrations, Morka argued that his record reflects economic policies that contributed to Nigeria’s current challenges, specifically citing the subsidy system managed under his vice presidency.
He accused Abubakar of intending to reintroduce outdated policies, warning that his proposals for economic reform fail to address Nigeria’s pressing needs.
“Abubakar thinks himself capable of fixing Nigeria but cannot fix the rot and dysfunction in his PDP,” Morka concluded, urging Nigerians to back the APC-led administration under President Bola Tinubu, which he said is committed to rejuvenating Nigeria’s economy.
