Gbenga Daniel, the former governor of Ogun State, has been named Grand Patron of the Creative Sector Group (CIG), a promoter of talents in the entertainment industry.
On Wednesday in Lagos, CIG President Felix Duke told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the organisation decided to honor the ex-governor because of his persistent support for the young and the entertainment sector.
Mr Daniel, according to Mr Duke, has been a proponent of youth development.
Mr Daniel received the honor during CIG’s courtesy visit to him on Tuesday, according to Mr Duke.
“We, the executive board members of CIG, paid a courtesy visit to former Governor Gbenga Daniel on Tuesday to appreciate his contributions to the industry.
“With delight, he accepted to be our grand patron,” he told NAN.
Mr Daniel is the founder of Political and Leadership Institute (POLA), Sagamu, an institution which offers short courses and mentorship to young leaders and aspiring politicians pro bono.
The All Progressives Congress chieftain, who jumped ship from opposition Peoples Democratic Party after the 2019 general elections, established POLA after leaving office in 2011.
