In a recent social media controversy, influencer and actress Amarachi Amusi, popularly known as Ashmusy, has been accused of failing to fulfill a business agreement, prompting intervention from the outspoken activist Vincent Otsaya, also known as Very Dark Man (VDM).
According to a video released by VDM on his Twitter account, a businessman in Alaba, Lagos, who deals in building materials, paid Ashmusy ₦1 million for promotional services.
However, after two to three months, Ashmusy did not deliver the agreed advertisement.
In a voice note, Ashmusy explained that due to her recent rebranding, ₦1 million was insufficient to cover the trip to Alaba. She requested an additional ₦1.5 million to consider the project, stating that her refund policy took 27 to 50 days.
When the businessman asked for his money back after six weeks, Ashmusy claimed the ₦1 million had “vanished” and suggested he should consider the payment a gift due to her status as a “fine girl.”
Feeling helpless, the businessman turned to Very Dark Man for assistance.
VDM, known for his candid and sometimes controversial approach, collected evidence of the transaction and publicly called out Ashmusy.
Following his intervention, Ashmusy quickly refunded the ₦1 million.
She later posted on her social media, stating, “People will always fall for negative posts like this because they enjoy it, even after hearing just one side of the story and after seeing half chats from only one person but that’s okay, it’s not new. Be rest assured this will be settled.”
This incident has sparked significant online debate.
Some argue that VDM should be persecuted due to his past accusations of cyberbullying, including recent clashes with notable figures like Obi Cubana, Iyabo Ojo, and her husband, Paulo.
Despite these controversies, many commend VDM for helping the businessman recover his money.
One Twitter user commented, “This is who y’all want us to cancel right, and choose between him or Very Dark Man? We are not ready for accountability in this Nigeria, that’s why you lot hate him.”
Another user stated, “One of the reasons they hate him is because they are all thieves, and he is here to expose them. VDM is here to stay.”
