‘Assassinated!’ Popular former footballer beaten to death for allegedly stealing electric cables

Lucky Maselesele, a former South African football player, was assassinated by two suspects.

After being accused of stealing energy wires, the 41-year-old former Kaizer Chiefs, Maritzburg United, and Black Leopards midfielder was allegedly beaten to death by community members.

After being accused of stealing electricity lines, a former South African football star was beaten to death.

According to police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo, who confirmed the event on Saturday, October 16, police received a complaint of community members attacking an unknown guy on Wednesday night.

“When the cops arrived, the group bolted, but the cops were able to apprehend two suspects,” Masondo said.

“The community accused the deceased of stealing electrical cables in the area, according to reports.
The paramedics pronounced him dead on the spot.”

After moving to Maritzburg United, the soccer player’s career spiralled downwards after being banned for testing positive for cocaine.
