Bayo Ojulari resignation was voluntary, says NNPCL. The GMD debunks fake abduction report by Peoples Gazette, calling it fiction and pure clickbait
The Bayo Ojulari resignation has stirred controversy thanks to a sensational and unsubstantiated story by Peoples Gazette, which falsely alleged that the NNPCL Group Managing Director was abducted and forced to resign by security operatives.

In a firm rebuttal, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) dismissed the claims as “a poorly scripted work of fiction” unworthy of serious journalism.
Mr. Bayo Ojulari himself addressed the rumors with humor, calling them “better suited for a Nollywood thriller.”
“I was neither arrested nor coerced,” Ojulari stated. “My resignation followed discussions with Abuja leadership after my return from a legitimate oil and gas conference in Kigali. It was a personal decision, not some spy movie plot.”
The Bayo Ojulari resignation comes amid social media buzz and alleged ties to British-Nigerian businesswoman Olatimbo Ayinde claims Ojulari labeled as baseless.
“I don’t even know her. My reputation stands on years of service and transparency, not clickbait drama,” he added.
NNPCL confirmed operations remain unaffected and warned the public against relying on unverified conspiracy-laden reports.

“If I were staging a dramatic exit, it would come with a soundtrack and better lighting,” Ojulari joked.
