A popular social media influencer and political commentator, Japheth Omojuwa, has taken a jab at the Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, over what he termed as begging for the newly manufactured COVID-19 vaccine.
Recall Freelanews reported how Pfizer and BioNTech said the first vaccine they have developed against COVID-19 can prevent more than 90 percent of people from getting infected.
In response, the Nigerian president wrote that he welcome the news and campaigned for equitable access and distribution to protect people in all countries.
I welcome the news that a Coronavirus vaccine has recorded 90% effectiveness in clinical trials. This is a major milestone. The world must now make great effort to facilitate equitable access and distribution of these vaccines, to protect people in ALL countries.

However, this message didn’t seem to go well with many Nigerians as cynical reactions started trailing the post. And one of the most prominent was from Omojuwa, who advised that the government should invest more in its local research labs, instead of begging.
Lol. People wey do vaccine still dey fight, some people don dey teach them how to share the vaccine.

May be if you open your universities and prioritise research, you wouldn’t have to depend on begging as a national strategy.
