Following the transfer, Epe General Hospital will be rebranded as Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Epe. The upgraded facility is set to offer specialised medical services, aiming to improve healthcare access and delivery in the region.
Among the advanced services to be provided at FMC Epe are paediatric care, including a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a Medical ICU.
The centre will also feature advanced surgical care, including open heart surgeries, high-risk obstetric and gynaecological services, and a state-of-the-art emergency and trauma centre.
In addition, nephrology services such as dialysis and kidney transplants, radiological services including CAT scans and MRIs, and orthopaedic care, including spinal procedures, will be available. Burns and plastic surgery services will further enhance the hospital’s capabilities.
In conjunction with the hospital upgrade, a site has been designated for the Federal College of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (FEDCAM).
The new FMC Epe will serve as the clinical training ground for students from FEDCAM, who will study courses like acupuncture, naturopathy, homeopathy, chiropractic medicine, osteopathy, and herbal medicine.
