The Lagos State Police Command has announced the successful retrieval of a baby sold by a housemaid who had absconded with her employer’s child.
The housemaid, who was apprehended in Ikorodu, Lagos, recently confessed to selling the baby for N800,000.
Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, provided an update on the case, stating, “Due to intense manhunt and pressure from the police, the buyer in the early hours of today abandoned the baby in Alade Market, Shomolu. The baby was promptly rescued by the police.”
He further added, “The baby has since been handed over to her parents after they positively identified her. Efforts are still on to apprehend the buyer who is currently on the run.”
According to Hundeyin, the police continue their efforts to bring the buyer to justice.
