‘Busted’ Man arrested for stabbing neighbor with broken bottle

The Osun State Police Command has dragged a middle-aged man, James Francis before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for stabbing his neighbour with broken bottle.

It was gathered that the accused person assaulted a neighbour, named Gregory Nwoeze and stabbed his stomach, forehead and hands with broken bottle.

The accused person committed the offence on March 11, at Ido-Afeki area, off Ilesa Road in Ile-Ife.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the offence contravened Section 266 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to a one-count charge of assault.

The Defense Counsel, Mr Babawale Omodogbe, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms, assuring that he would not jump bail.

Magistrate Ibitola Oyebadejo granted the accused person to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Oyebadejo ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and should produce three recent passport photographs.

She further ordered that one of the sureties must be gainfully employed, and should present three years tax clearance certificate.

The case was adjourned till April 5, for hearing.
