The initiative aimed to spark conversations around food security and sustainable farming practices.

The competition saw an impressive turnout, with 40 schools from across Nigeria participating. Students submitted works focused on the future of agriculture and its pivotal role in combating food insecurity.

After a rigorous selection process, five schools stood out for their exceptional submissions. These winning schools were awarded cash prizes, thanks to the generous support of Adron Homes & Properties, a leader in Nigeria’s real estate sector.

Chi Tola Roberts, Chief Operating Officer of Capacious Farms & Foods Ltd, underscored the importance of the event in her speech.

“Commemorating World Food Day through this contest highlights the critical role agriculture plays in our society. Our goal is to spark an early interest in agriculture and equip students with the knowledge and motivation to pursue careers in the sector,” she said.

Roberts further announced plans to make the contest an annual event, with hopes of expanding its reach to more students nationwide.

In his address, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, Chairman of Adron Group, expressed his passion for agriculture, reminding attendees of its historical significance in Nigeria.

“Our nation was built on agriculture. Cocoa House, one of Nigeria’s iconic landmarks, was funded through proceeds from cocoa farming.

By supporting initiatives like this, we aim to inspire the next generation to see agriculture not only as our past but as our future,” he stated.

Emmanuelking also reaffirmed Adron’s commitment to youth engagement in agriculture, stressing the company’s desire to continue supporting similar initiatives.

Prof. Adesegun, Chairman of the Babcock University Schools Management Board, delivered a thought-provoking keynote speech on the global food crisis.

He stressed the critical role youth must play in solving these challenges. “We are facing a global challenge in food security, and the youth must be at the forefront of finding solutions.

This competition is a step in the right direction, as it encourages students to think critically about the future of food and agriculture,” he remarked.

With the support of Capacious Farms & Foods Ltd and Adron Homes & Properties, the contest will become a regular feature, helping to foster a deeper connection between Nigerian youth and the agricultural sector.
