This comes in line with the government’s decision to relocate certain departments of both the CBN and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) corporate headquarters to Lagos.
President Bola Tinubu’s administration defended the relocation, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing efficiency and reducing costs. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, issued a press statement on Sunday, dismissing claims that the decision had political motives or favored a particular region.
A source within the apex bank confirmed that the relocation plan is still underway, with affected staff members set to resume their duties on February 2, 2024. The decision to move some CBN departments to Lagos is attributed to concerns for staff safety, increased productivity, and the need to decongest the headquarters.
