Chukwueze was named Fulham’s Royal Caribbean Legend of the Match on Saturday after providing the decisive assist for Raúl Jiménez in a 1–0 victory.
The 26-year-old, who entered as a second-half substitute for Brazilian forward Kevin in the 64th minute, set up the winner just seven minutes from time, earning 39.29 per cent of fan votes.
Silva praised the summer signing’s impact and emphasised the importance of consistent performances. “He had a huge impact. It was a great assist from him, and we’re pleased for him.
Now we need him to start games and keep the intensity throughout the 90 minutes,” Silva said.
Chukwueze joined Fulham on a season-long loan from AC Milan, linking up with fellow Nigerians Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey.
The deal includes a non-mandatory purchase option reported to be worth over €25m.
Since arriving in the Premier League, Chukwueze has featured in five matches, all as a substitute, logging 108 of a possible 450 minutes and contributing two assists.
Silva’s comments follow a call from supporters and pundits for the winger to earn his first league start when Fulham travel to Tottenham this weekend.
Chukwueze rose to prominence after starring for Nigeria’s U-17 team in 2015 before establishing himself at Villarreal, where he scored five goals and provided two assists in his debut La Liga season.
He spent five years with the Spanish club, including winning the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League.
