Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has praised his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, who turned 57 on Sunday.
Sanwo-Olu praised Hamzat as a dependable and dedicated friend and partner in the “Greater Lagos agenda” in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Gboyega Akosile.
“On behalf of my beautiful wife, Ibijoke, and the wonderful people of Lagos State, I warmly greet Dr Obafemi Hamzat, my loyal, industrious, dependable, and dedicated brother, friend, and partner in the Greater Lagos agenda, on his 57th birthday,” he added.
Hamzat’s services to the development of the state as a former commissioner and inside the All Progressives Congress were also lauded by Sanwo-Olu.
“He made great achievements as Commissioner for Science and Technology, as well as Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure. We cherish Dr Hamzat’s contributions to party politics and governance in Lagos State.
“He is a worthy ambassador and champion of technocracy and politics. And as a true democrat and progressive politician, he has remained steadfast in the progressive camp,” he added.
Similarly, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, in a statement by his media office described Hamzat as a committed democrat and administrator.
He said, “Hamzat is a committed democrat, administrator and one who is greatly appreciated for his whole-hearted contributions to the growth and progress of our dear state.”
Obasa lauded Hamzat’s role as a team player and his contribution in making Lagos one of the best cities in the world.
“He has constantly shown himself an important team player and this has helped us in the government to keep aiming at the moon in our zeal to make Lagos one of the best places, not just in the country, but among notable cities across the globe. I appreciate you for your contributions to governance and urge you not to relent in your love for Lagos,” he added.
