Bandits have demanded an exorbitant ransom of N40 trillion, along with 11 Hilux vans and 150 motorcycles, for the release of 16 residents abducted from the Gonin Gora area of Kaduna State. John Yusuf, a community leader, revealed that the bandits made contact with the victims’ families to convey their demands.

Yusuf highlighted the immense challenge of meeting such demands, emphasizing that neither the community nor Nigeria as a whole could raise such an astronomical sum. He detailed the recent abductions, which occurred in two separate attacks within four days, leaving a total of 16 people held captive.
The community leader underscored the urgent need for military intervention, citing the surrounding bushes as hideouts for the bandits. He appealed to the government to establish a military base behind the community to counter the criminal operations effectively.
Yusuf commended the efforts of the Nigerian Army in combating banditry but stressed the necessity for further government action to address the escalating security crisis in the region.
