Coscharis Group has announced the appointment of Mr Fred Amobi as its new deputy group managing director.

In a release, the group stated that Amobi’s appointment took effect on August 1, 2023, following the exit of Dr Okey Nwuke.

Commenting on the appointment, the President of Coscharis Group, Dr Cosmas Maduka, said, “Fred will in this new role continue to oversee group functions – finance, human resources, supply chain, strategy, marketing and corporate communications, legal, internal control and information technology, and will now additionally oversee subsidiary companies both within and outside Nigeria.”

The statement said Amobi joined Coscharis Group in 2016 as group executive director of operations.

Before joining Coscharis Group, he worked in Lafarge in Nigeria, the United Kingdom and Malaysia in different capacities, including Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer of Lafarge Cement Wapco Nigeria Plc and Director, Ready Mix Operations, Lafarge Africa Plc.

Before joining Lafarge, he was the Commercial Director, East/West at Nigeria Bottling Company Plc, among other leadership roles within the Coca–Cola system.

Earlier, he also held various positions within UAC of Nigeria Plc, including Divisional Commercial Director (BPP/Kalamazoo) and Finance Director, Spring Waters Nigeria Ltd, a subsidiary of UAC of Nigeria Plc.

Amobi is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and a member of the Institute of Directors.

He graduated with a distinction in Accountancy from the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu.

He also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from ESUT Business School.
