Several areas in Abuja, including Jabi, Lifecamp, Kado, Idu, Karmo, and Bwari, have been without electricity for days due to technical faults, as confirmed by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC)

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has acknowledged the situation, issuing three separate outage statements on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday and Friday.

The electricity distribution company attributed the widespread blackout to technical faults affecting the feeders that supply power to the concerned locations.

“We regret to inform you that the ongoing power outage is due to a technical fault affecting the feeders serving these locations,” the AEDC stated in a Friday notice addressing the continued issue.

The affected areas and businesses include the Jabi District, Lifecamp, Kado District, Aire Gas, Total Marble, and other establishments situated along Kaduna Road.

Furthermore, residents and businesses in Idu, Citec Mbora, Karmo, EFAB Global Estate, Karmo, Woodfield Estate, Zulu Community, and all surrounding areas are also experiencing the extended power outages.

Similarly, Sokale Garden, Dutse Makaranta, Dutse Bokuma, Ushafa, Pegi, Gigo, Defence College Estate, Kogo, Zuma, Veritas University, Jamb Headquarters, Law School, Bwari, and their environs are facing similar power disruptions.

Specifically addressing the situation in Bwari and its surrounding areas, the AEDC stated that the erratic power supply is due to a technical fault on the 33 kV Bwari Feeder serving those communities.

“The ongoing power outage is due to a technical fault on the 33kV Bwari Feeder, which is affecting supply to these areas. The TCN technical team is working tirelessly to restore power as quickly as possible,” the Abuja disco announced.

Meanwhile, residents in the affected areas have continued to voice their frustration and lament the significant impact of the prolonged power outage on their daily lives and businesses.

Benjamin Aina, a resident of Ushafa, reported that his area has been without electricity for an entire week. “It is painful we haven’t had power supply for one week now.

My food stored in the freezer is all spoiled,” he told DAILY POST, highlighting the direct consequences on households.

Similarly, Musa Abdullahi, a resident of Jabi, decried the extended blackout, noting the increased financial burden of relying on a generator for power.

“We have not had power supply for over a week now. The situation is really impacting households and businesses in Jabu. I now spend more money to buy fuel.

The AEDC and TCN need to fix this situation,” he stated, underscoring the economic strain on residents.
