Eko Electricity Distribution Company and Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company have assured customers across their networks of their commitment to ensuring quality service delivery during this year’s Easter celebration.

The Discos gave the assurance in separate statements made available to our correspondent.

The Chief Operating Officer, IBEDC, Mr John Ayodele, said in order to ensure steady service delivery during the period, a special rapid response team had been put together to reinforce and strengthen the company’s service delivery.

“We recognise the fact that the demand for electricity always increases during the festive season; we have therefore positioned our technical crew to monitor and patrol the network to ensure faults are cleared as and when due and also mitigate the effect of any disruption to electricity supply,” he said.

Ayodele warned against vandalism and tampering with equipment across IBEDC network, saying these could cause deaths or serious injuries.

He also advised consumers to ensure that their homes and business premises were properly wired and earthed only by approved technicians to ensure safety of lives and property.

“It is illegal and dangerous for anyone to trade, live or work near electricity installations or even tamper with them. Motorists are also admonished to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol and observe traffic rules to prevent collision with electrical poles and other accidents,” he said.

Ayodele encouraged customers to take advantage of the company’s channels to pay bills and vend to avoid disconnection during the holiday period.

EKEDC, in a statement by its General Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr Godwin Idemudia, said it was committed to improving the current power supply situation to ensure adequate power supply to its customers during the period of the celebration and beyond.

He said the continuous upgrade of its facilities and distribution infrastructure was to enable the company to consolidate its promise of improved supply to all the customers within its distribution network.

He also said the company was committed to ensuring that the bulk of its customers benefited from the ongoing National Mass Metering Programme.

Idemudia appealed to customers who had registered and were yet to receive their prepaid meters to exercise patience, noting that the distribution was in phases.

He encouraged customers who were yet to apply to log on to the company’s website to fill and complete the application form.
