The People’s Elephant earned a commanding 2-0 away win at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, as goals from Chidera Michael and Kalu Nweke in the closing stages sealed all three points for Stanley Eguma’s men.
Following a goalless first half, Michael broke the deadlock in the 78th minute, before Nweke added a second just five minutes later, putting the result beyond doubt.
The result keeps Enyimba unbeaten after four matches, having won two and drawn two, with eight points collected so far.
After a lacklustre 2024/25 campaign by their own lofty standards, this start signals a potential return to form for the two-time CAF Champions League winners.
Enyimba will next host Bendel Insurance at the Enyimba International Stadium on September 21, as they look to maintain their unbeaten run.
Meanwhile, Bayelsa United will aim to bounce back when they welcome Nasarawa United in their next fixture.
In another highlight of the weekend, Super Eagles winger Ahmed Musa opened his account for the new season, scoring the decisive goal in Kano Pillars’ 1-0 win over Enugu Rangers at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
Musa struck in the 65th minute to lift the Sai Masu Gida side out of the relegation zone, after veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali had earlier missed a penalty.
