The Olubadan elect, Lekan Balogun, and other have withdrawn their suit against Oyo State government over the lingering crisis regarding coveted throne of Olubadan.
Recall that the state governor, Seyi Makinde, recently had a closed-door meeting with Balogun, ex-Governor Rashidi Ladoja and other members of Olubadan-in-Council in charting a way forward in resolving the issue. The impasse which started when Balogun and other high chiefs were illegally elevated to kings by the late fmr governor of the state, a move seen to spite the late Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Oguguluso I.
The Otun Olubadan, Senator Lekan Balogun, who is the next in line to the Olubadan, couldn’t have an easy passage to the throne as and was compelled to drop his crown and revert to his original position.
In a letter made available to Freelanews and jointly signed by Balogun and other illegally elevated high chiefs through their lawyer, Kunle Sobaloju, the chiefs noted that they have decided to embark on their new resolution for the peace of the Ibadanland is more paramount.
“We as kingmakers and members of Olubadan in Council have decided to withdraw our above mentioned suit High Court of Justice of Oyo State, Ibadan with immediate effect,” the letter read in part.
