As fake indigenous letters of recommendation scandal rocks Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, the chairman, Otunba Kehinde Almoroof Oloyede has ordered a thorough investigation into the occurrence of non-indigenes receiving indigeneship letters.
The chairman has promised that everyone involved will suffer the full brunt of the law’s wrath, expressing his disgust for the illegal behavior.
The incident came to light through a trending video online, where individuals purportedly recruited into the Nigerian Army were found with fake indigeneship letters allegedly emanating from some local governments in Lagos. The individuals claimed to have obtained the certificates from an unnamed cyber cafe in Lagos.
In response to the scandal, Chairman Oloyede released a statement condemning the issuance of indigeneship letters to non-indigenes. He emphasized that a comprehensive investigation would be conducted, and anyone found guilty would be handed over to security agencies for prosecution.
“I received the report of the unfortunate trending video, where indigeneship letters were purportedly issued to some non-indigenes, placing the local government in public glare. As the Executive Chairman, I have ordered that a thorough investigation be carried out, and all those involved be handed to security agencies for prosecution,” stated Oloyede.
He further assured the public that the matter would not be swept under the carpet, emphasizing the commitment to uncovering the individuals behind the issuance. The chairman intends to take appropriate actions to serve as a deterrent to others attempting to tarnish the reputation of the local council.
“We will do the needful, and we will not let any stone go unturned,” Oloyede concluded. The incident underscores the importance of maintaining the integrity of official documents and preventing fraudulent activities that compromise the credibility of institutions.”
