The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, December 25; Thursday, December 26; and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, on Monday.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to reflect on the spirit of the season, emphasizing love, peace, and unity. “Christmas is a time for spiritual renewal and national reflection. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, let us embrace kindness and extend goodwill to everyone, regardless of our differences,” he said.
The government called on citizens to use the holidays to promote harmony and strengthen relationships across the nation.
