Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has fearlessly addressed a recent death threat directed at her by an unidentified cleric in Bauchi State. The cleric, a few weeks prior, publicly expressed a wish for the demise of Nigeria’s First Lady due to her Christian faith, also denouncing the Muslim/Muslim ticket that brought Tinubu to power as fraudulent.

Undeterred by the threat, Oluremi Tinubu, 64 years old, asserted during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwan Adamu, before inaugurating various projects in the State, that she refuses to live in fear. She expressed gratitude to Bauchi Governor, Bala Mohammed, for assuring her safety in the state but emphasized that her age and faith in God render her unafraid of death.
“I want to thank His Excellency (Bauchi Governor); he keeps assuring me that I am safe in Bauchi, but I want to say that I am too old to be afraid. If God has granted me over 60 years on earth, I shouldn’t fear death.”
Furthermore, the First Lady stressed the importance of national unity, stating, “Nigeria belongs to all of us, and this is the time for us to unite more than ever before.”
In response to the threat, Bauchi Governor, Bala Mohammed, who accompanied Oluremi Tinubu to the Emir’s Palace, condemned the death threats, describing them as a “national embarrassment.” He commended Tinubu’s courage in visiting Bauchi despite the threats, affirming the state’s commitment to ensuring her safety.
Governor Mohammed assured, “Your life is more important to us than our own lives, nothing will happen to you. And that renegade, we will deal with him and Allah deal with him, by the grace of God. On behalf of their Royal Highnesses and the people of Bauchi State, we apologize for that national embarrassment, it will not happen again.”
