Salihu Lukman, the former National Vice Chairman, North-West, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has issued a stern warning regarding the trajectory of President Bola Tinubu’s governance.
In a statement he personally signed, Lukman voiced his alarm that the current administration is deteriorating rapidly, potentially setting a new low for governance in Nigeria.
Lukman, who has been a critical voice within the APC, lamented that the performance of former President Muhammadu Buhari had fallen short of public expectations, a situation he now fears is being mirrored, if not surpassed, by President Tinubu. He drew a worrying comparison, suggesting that, just as Buhari’s administration was viewed as worse than that of his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, Tinubu might follow a similar path of underperformance.
He further speculated on the future, cautioning that whoever succeeds Tinubu in 2027 could inherit an even more challenging situation, continuing the trend of declining governance standards.
“If APC is defeated in 2027, what is the guarantee that the new government to emerge post President Asiwaju Tinubu will not be worse?” Lukman questioned, adding that the pattern of progressively worsening administrations in Nigeria appears to be unbroken.
Lukman’s comments reflect growing unease within political circles and the wider public about the direction of the current administration, raising concerns about the future of governance in Nigeria.
