The dismissal of a suit filed by five residents of the Federal Capital Territory, who prayed to the court to halt the inauguration of Bola Tinubu as president, by an Abuja Federal High Court in Abuja, has started generating mixed reactions.

Recall that five applicants —Anyaegbunam Okoye, David Adzer, Jeffery Ucheh, Osang Paul and Chibuike Nwachukwu—identified themselves as registered voters of the FCT, in the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/578/2023, urged the court to stop the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, any other judicial officer and/or any other authority or person from swearing in any candidate in the February 25 presidential election as President or Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

However, the presiding judge, Inyang Ekwo, on Tuesday, did not only dismiss the suit, he also ordered the lawyer representing the five residents to pay the sum of N10million each to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

In her reaction, a veteran Nollywood actress and the acting chairman of Labour Party in Rivers State, Hilda Dokubo, has called on Obidients to call out Ekwo over what she described in a Twitter Space as ‘absolute madness’.

“Absolute madness! It’s okay that you ran away all these while but for you to now come and have the temerity of saying people should give you N20million. If you dey find N20mln, you no go work get am?” she asked in pidgin English.

Dokubo also claimed that the judge, his family and children needed to be ‘called out’ and make it go viral.
