Ganduje condemns Kano government’s arrest call, calling the allegation unfounded and distracting from insecurity
In a strongly worded statement issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, former Kano State Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said Ganduje condemns the call for his arrest, describing the move as unfounded and irresponsible.

Ganduje argued that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had ignored rising insecurity across several local communities while diverting attention with what he called a misleading allegation.
He stated that residents in Bagwai, Shanono and Tsanyawa had suffered repeated attacks without any visit or empathy from the state leadership.
He said the government’s failure to confront urgent security threats showed a worrying disconnect from the people.
The statement stressed that Ganduje had never been linked to violence or any action capable of destabilising Kano, noting that the accusation was merely an attempt to mislead the public.
Ganduje urged the governor to prioritise his constitutional responsibility of protecting citizens instead of engaging in what he described as political theatrics.
He maintained that focusing on genuine threats should take precedence over issuing claims that lacked substance.

The Kano State Government had earlier called for Ganduje’s arrest over alleged inciting remarks and an alleged plot to form an unlawful militia, an accusation the former governor said was both baseless and deeply troubling.
