A young, traumatized girl has come forward with a harrowing account of abuse at the hands of her guardian, Temitope Adetanju, in the Isewo Obada Oko area of Ewekoro Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, involved severe physical abuse over a seemingly trivial matter of biscuits.

In a video interview shared with Freelanews, the girl detailed the frequent beatings she endured whenever she made mistakes.

The most recent incident arose when she admitted to eating a biscuit and lying about it, which enraged her guardian.

The punishment was brutal and included a severe beating that left visible marks on the girl’s body.

Shockingly, the abuse escalated to the extent of Adetanju inserting hot firewood into the girl’s private parts.

Despite the apparent injuries, the girl was not taken to the hospital for proper medical care.

This neglect has raised significant concerns about the wellbeing and safety of children under guardianship in the community.

Further reports suggest that the Community Development Association (CDA) in Obada is attempting to cover up the incident.

Disturbingly, the girl’s parents, who are alive, are allegedly unaware of the full extent of the abuse their daughter has been enduring under Adetanju’s care.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that Adetanju is currently in police custody.

Odutola stated, “The incident occurred on 11/06/24 at about 1100hrs. The Divisional Police Officer received information that a 12-year-old girl from Isewo Obada Oko was severely beaten and had a piece of firewood inserted into her private part by her guardian, one Temitope Adetanju, a 25-year-old woman residing at the same address.”

During her arrest, it was discovered that the victim had stolen items including biscuits worth N200, Milo worth N150, and Mr. Fruit worth N300.
