Amidst growing concerns and speculations regarding the prolonged absence of Governor Dapo Abiodun from the affairs of Ogun State, a video has surfaced on social media attempting to provide clarity on the matter.

The governor, facing legal challenges from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Ladi Adebutu, has been a subject of controversy, with claims of him abandoning his gubernatorial duties and relocating to Abuja.
Allegations surfaced that Governor Abiodun instructed commissioners keen on retaining their positions to seek assistance to influence the final outcome of the legal process, leaving activities at the state secretariat at a standstill.
The Supreme Court recently reserved judgment on the appeal challenging Abiodun’s victory in the March 18 election after throwing out counter-appeals by the governor and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In response to these claims, a video shared by the governor’s Special Consultant on Media, Tunde Oladunjoye, displayed a prayer session at the Ogun State Government House in Asokoro, Abuja, which confirms the claim that the principal officers in government of the Gateway state have packed shop from Abeokuta.
The video aimed to dispel the notion of abandonment and showcased the governor, commissioners, and political appointees engaged in prayer after the court hearing.

In the video, the acting pastor who was claimed to either be the Commissioner for Tourism, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, or Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr Oluwatoyin Taiwo leading the session prayed for a favorable outcome of the legal petition, expressing confidence in victory.
Although despite the attempts to project assurance, the gathering appeared somber, underscoring the gravity of the legal challenges faced by the Ogun State government.
“We’re sure of victory. They’ve started saying all forms of things, the governor… the commissioners have resigned because we’re parking away from Oke Mosan. We know that the Bible says they’re going to gather but because their gathering is not of the lord. That the Lord will scatter,” he prayed in part.
Watch.
A close watcher of the political development in Ogun State is of the opinion that the Supreme Court is set to look at the election petition in Ogun State properly and to side step the technicalities of the two lower courts especially with regards to the material facts of rigging which the PDP candidate, Adebutu tendered before it.
This, it was gathered, might not be unconnected to the uneasy calm in government circles in the state.
