Gunmen kill three in Plateau’s Bassa LGA near the Military Drone Base in Kwall. The victims, identified as local residents, were attacked while returning home on Tuesday, 3 June 2025

[dropcap]G[/dropcap]unmen kill three in Plateau State’s Bassa Local Government Area, sparking renewed concerns over security in the region.

The victims were ambushed near Government Secondary School (GSS) Kwall, directly opposite the Military Drone Base, while heading home from Kwall District on the evening of Tuesday, 3 June 2025.

Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, a youth leader in the Irigwe community and National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Youth Movement.

He said, “Yes, it’s true. Yesterday, Tuesday, June 3, 2025, three individuals from Kwall District, Bassa LGA, were tragically killed in a violent incident while on their way home.

The victims succumbed to bullet and machete injuries near the GSS Kwall, opposite the Military Drone Base, Kwall.”

The deceased were identified as: Sunday Ishaya, aged 37,Joshua Mishi, aged 51Range Kpeh, aged 32

Yonkpa offered condolences on behalf of the community and urged authorities to prioritise the safety of residents in the area.

As of the time of filing this report, efforts to reach Plateau State Police Command spokesman Alabo Alfred were unsuccessful, as his mobile phone was switched off.

This latest attack follows a pattern of recurring violence in Plateau State, underscoring the fragile security situation in parts of north-central Nigeria.
