Unidentified gunmen have reportedly killed a couple and abandoned their lifeless bodies in the trunk of a Toyota Camry along the Tempo Junction, Umunya axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. The victims, suspected to be husband and wife, were discovered by passersby in the early hours of Wednesday.

A video circulating on social media captures the dark-colored Toyota Corolla with open doors, surrounded by onlookers inspecting the horrific scene. The blood dripping from beneath the vehicle’s boot suggests that the couple may have been recently murdered.

Anambra State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident. He revealed that police personnel from the Oyi Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), recovered the two lifeless bodies and the abandoned vehicle around 7:30 am on January 24, 2024.

The victims, a man, and a woman, exhibited signs of violence and gunshot injuries on their bodies. The police also discovered expended cartridges at the crime scene. The bodies have been deposited in a mortuary, and investigations have commenced to uncover the circumstances surrounding the double homicide.

In a statement, DSP Ikenga urged the public to await further details as the police work to unravel the motives behind the gruesome attack. The incident adds to the growing concerns about the security situation in certain regions and highlights the need for prompt and thorough investigations to bring perpetrators to justice.
