Recall, interstate closure was ordered when the number of active cases were less than 1,000, but that same government, today, has re-opened the borders when the active cases are close to 15,000.
As government orders that our borders be re-opened and did nothing to strengthen our dilapidated health system, it behoves on the citizens to take proper self responsibility by observing Covid-19 protocol.
For over four months that we have been battling with coronavirus in Nigeria, no cogent action has been taken to either restructure or improve our health sector. I keep asking myself, do we really have government in this country?
Like I suggested in one of my articles, if each State of the federation cannot have a standard hospital in their state, let each region come together to build a world best standard hospital where people can have access to good health care.
Unfortunately, billions of naira have been committed to our health sector in the past without any positive result. If we cannot use Covid-19 pandemic to restructure our health system, then, I don’t know what can happen again that will make us to do the needful.
