Bangladeshi actress Raima Islam Shimu whose dead body was found inside a sack on Monday was brutally murdered and after hours of rigorous grilling, her husband Shakhawat Ali Nobel has confessed to his involvement in the murder case. Now, he’s on a 3-day remand.

Earlier a Dhaka police statement revealed that the reason behind Shimu’s murder is probably a family feud and her husband confessed to the killing while he was being interrogated by local police.

The Keraniganj police had said that Shimu’s husband Nobel and one of his friends Abdullah Farhad have been taken into custody for further questioning. Meanwhile, several reports in Bangladeshi media are suggesting there might be an influential actor involved in this case, but police haven’t confirmed anything about it.

Her body was found in a sack.

Raima Islam Shimu’s dead body was sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital for autopsy earlier on Tuesday as it had several injury marks. The preliminary investigation suggested the actress was murdered somewhere else and her body was later dumped near a bridge in Keraniganj.

Shimu used to live with her husband and child and she went missing on Sunday morning. Later her family filed a missing diary suspecting something was not right.

The seasoned actress made her acting debut in the 1998 film ‘Bartaman’ and since then acted in as many as 25 films and a few TV shows as well. She was also a member of Bangladesh Film Artists Association.
